Nexus 8 on the horizon

To avoid any misunderstandings, we aren’t talking about the mobile carrier. We’re talking about Google’s Android.com promotional site and how it features an image of a mysterious tablet that seems familiar. Google is getting a lot of appreciation and sympathy from the community after their Nexus 5 / Android 4.4 release just a few days ago. Determined not to sit on their laurels, they appear to drop hints about future projects in the most obvious way possible.

You can see this picture yourself by accessing the ‘Apps & Entertainment‘ section of the Android.com website, just make sure to scroll down to the second large image. In this image, we see a woman holding a tablet that is unlike anything on the market at this point in time, and it isn’t like Google to post pictures by mistake. After a closer look, we see that this mysterious device uses an 8(approximately) inch screen, and that it runs Android 4.4 KitKat.

We aren’t yet sure what this means for the time being, although it wouldn’t be much of a stretch to look at the tablet as what it could might as well be. We are, of course, talking about the Nexus 8, a device that is currently in the making and a device that will most likely be released in the following months. It would be strange however, for the Nexus 8 to use a smaller screen than Nexus 10, but who are we to question Google’s will?
