The GPe versions of the Sony Xperia Z Ultra and LG G Pad 8.3 have been released yesterday by Google, in an effort to extent its Google Play edition program to Android tablets. Interestingly enough, both of these products are already available via the Play Store within the United States.
The LG G Pad 8.3 comes equipped with an 8.3 inch screen running a FUll HD 1200×1920 resolution. It also features a Snapdragon S600 processor, a microSD card, a 4600 mAh battery, and 2 GB of RAM. The Sony Z Ultra on the other hand, uses a 6.44 inch screen, a Snapdragon S800 processor, 2 GB of RAM, a 3000 mAh battery, an 8 MP Exmor RS sensor, and a waterproof feature as well.
As for the OS, both of these devices are using Android 4.4 KitKat, and they will come equipped with an unlockable bootloader. Furthermore, the Sony Z Ultra features some pretty interesting Sony tools like X-Reality and TRILUMINOS. As for the price, Sony Z Ultra costs around $649 while the LG G Pad 8.3 can be bought for $349 from the Play Store.
