Dreamcast emulator available at the Play Store

Those of you who were fans of the popular console back in the day will be happy to hear about ‘reicast’, a working Dreamcast emulator for Android. Although this is just the alpha version, it still works well enough to warrant an installation. To sum it up roughly, reicast is the Android-based version of Nulldce.

A quick heads-up however: reicast’s developer says that you need at least a Cortex-A9 dual core 1 Ghz+ processor to run the app. You also need the Dreamcast BIOS for the emulator to work. According to the app’s Play Store page, you have to put the BIOS on /sdcard/dc/data/dc_boot.bin. Also, the Dreamcast flash must be on /sdcard/dc/data/dc_flash.bin. You should also dump these files from your Dreamcast and the games from the original gdroms.

You also have to keep in mind that because this is the alpha version, some bugs are to be expected. Even so, the ability to run games like ‘Sonic Adventure’, ‘Soul Calibur’, ‘Resident Evil Cod: Veronica’, ‘Crazy Taxi’, and many more on your Android device should make all this hassle worth it.
